Now quickly apply for the Digital Retail Award 2017

Deadline for entries is 21 August – viscom 2017 presents nominees   

Good news for all experts in digital retail and brand communication: the deadline for entries to the Digital Retail Award 2017 was postponed by one month upon request by the industry. Manufacturers, service providers, digital agencies and retail still have time until 21 August to apply for this industry award in the open competition. The most innovative entries will be introduced to a wide expert audience at viscom 2017. Europe’s trade fair for visual communication is expected to attract 10,000 trade visitors from 71 countries from 18 to 20 October in Düsseldorf.

Gearing up retail for the digital future

The Award considers both large integrated solutions and small individual ones – in a total of four categories: “InStore” stands for digital projects and applications that advertise and sell in store. “DOOH” comprises digital solutions and campaigns in the out-of-home segment. “Customer Journey” looks for digital projects that accompany shoppers across various channels all the way down to the final decision to buy. “Start up Ideas” is designed for newcomers in the sector who have not been on the market for more than three years and have less than ten employees. The winner receives an exhibitor participation at “Startup-City” at the big German Startupcon conference in Cologne in 2018. Particularly innovative entries submitted in 2017 can also win the cross-category Special Award.

The jury: expertise to the power of nine
 
The winners will be selected by nine experts from the communications industry. Silvia Talmon, Creative Director and board member at The Store Designers®; Christiane Treckmann, editor-in-chief of trade magazines LEAD digital, W&V plus the W&V special products in the publishing house Werben & Verkaufen GmbH; Ralf Bruestle, co-founder of the Startupcon Conference Cologne; Martin Esser, General Manager of Immersive Stories; Udo Schendel, General Manager of Jost von Brandis Service-Agentur GmbH; Julian Geurts and Oliver Tepner, Senior Consultants at Publicis Pixelpark; Florian Rotberg , invidis consulting as well as viscom Director Petra Lassahn. Four of the jury members will also, for the first time this year, act as mentors for the newly introduced award categories, thereby ensuring a particularly high quality of entries. Martin Esser will look after the category “InStore”, Udo Schendel will take care of “DOOH”. The category “Customer Journey” will be attended by Florian Rotberg and the “Start-up Idea” category by Ralf Brüstle.

Digital Retail Award: how to apply

The Digital Retail Award is a global contest. Eligible for participation are producers, distributors, integrators and digital agencies. Participation at the viscom trade fair is not a pre-condition. The nominated projects will be presented during viscom at the centre of the digital retail space (Hall 14, Stand E35). All nominees will also have access to the exclusive Digital Retail Night, where the winners will be officially recognised after the first trade fair day.

Digital Retail Night: the top event for the communications industry

The Digital Retail Night on 18 October is the evening event of the communications industry. At the Düsseldorf venue “Ufer 8” digital agencies will meet brands, digital signage icons will network with customers, and the “movers and shakers” in visual communication will be present. There is only a very limited number of tickets available for this high-calibre event. Early reservation is therefore recommended. Tickets in the Super-Early-Bird-Edition cost EUR 129 (until 31 August 2017) and later the higher price of EUR 179.
